Welcome to Bedgebury Café

We are a family run business that set out to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with amazingly good food and drink, all served with a smile from the heart of the Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest.

From the beginning it was important to us to create somewhere we would go ourselves with our family, so we are pleased to welcome everyone, and our team really hope you’ll notice that our menu has been thoughtfully put together to cater for all tastes, appetites and dietary requirements. We also have a special menu for your little ones!

Set in the beautiful surroundings of the Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest, Bedgebury Cafe sits right on a stunning lake in the middle of one of the world’s finest conifer collections. It really is the ideal base for a family day out and great for cycling, walking, running and riding, adventure play, and Go Ape, and the café is a great starting point for the seasonal trail around the Pinetum.

History of Bedgebury Forest and Pinetum

A bit more about Bedgebury Forest and the Pinetum

Since its inception in 1925, the aim of Bedgebury Pinetum has been to grow as many species of conifers as the climatic conditions will allow.  As such it has established collections of threatened species that act as living gene-banks and as a genetic resource for future conservation programmes. Indeed many of the older plantings were collected from forests that no longer exist and may represent lost genotypes.
